Gazers resembled the beholder who had dreamed them into being with only minor differences. He is the boss of the underground Xanathars Thieves Guild in Skullport. In the adventure book, Waterdeep Dragon Heist, he serves as the main antagonist of the Spring setting. They often served as familiars for evil spellcasters serving under beholders. Xanathar is a Beholder, or rather a line of Beholders sharing a title, and a recurring antagonist of the Dungeons & Dragons setting of Forgotten Realms.
